The short version
Your child's messages, searches, and app activity are processed entirely on their iPhone.
Raw data never leaves the device. We never see your child's messages. Ever.
๐ฑ Everything stays on the phone
When MyKidsDay reads your child's iPhone activity, all processing happens locally โ on the device itself. No raw messages, no search history, no app content is ever transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Think of it like a translator that reads a document and gives you a summary โ without ever sending you the original document.
๐ Only de-identified summaries leave the device
The only thing that ever leaves your child's iPhone is a de-identified metadata summary. That means:
- No word-for-word message content โ we never transmit actual texts or iMessages
- No raw search queries โ we summarize topics, not exact searches
- No personal identifiers โ contact names are anonymized before leaving the device
- No screenshots or recordings โ ever
What leaves the device looks like: "3 conversations with close contacts, 1 emotionally flagged message, 47 minutes of social media." Not the actual content.
๐ค How Claude writes your summary
That de-identified metadata is sent to Claude (Anthropic's AI) to be turned into a readable, warm parent summary. Claude sees only the anonymized metadata โ never your child's actual messages or searches.
The AI summary you receive each morning is written from that metadata โ not from raw data.
๐ค Transparent consent โ your child knows
MyKidsDay is not a hidden surveillance app. Your child knows it's installed. The app requires your child to be part of your Apple Family Sharing group, which means Apple's own consent mechanisms are in place.
We believe honest awareness is better than covert monitoring โ and research backs this up. Kids who know their parents are engaged online make better choices.
๐๏ธ Apple-approved framework
MyKidsDay uses Apple's official Family Controls framework โ the same system Apple built for parental oversight. This requires explicit approval from Apple, and we've applied for that entitlement as a registered LLC with a clear child-safety mission.
We don't use workarounds, jailbreaks, or unofficial APIs. Everything runs through Apple's sanctioned channels.
๐ What we store on our servers
- Your email address โ to send you the daily summary
- Your preferred send time โ when you want your morning email
- The de-identified summary metadata โ retained for 30 days so you can review trends
- Nothing else โ no messages, no searches, no content of any kind
Our promise
"We will never sell your data. We will never store your child's messages. We will never transmit raw content off your child's device. This isn't just policy โ it's how the technology is built."
